Lord Huron – Strange Trails – July 7th 2016
This was an evening of firsts for me as it was my first time at the Danforth Music Hall and seeing Lord Huron live. Upon entering the Danforth Music Hall I instantly begin to get the warm and fuzzes. Visually the design of the space is beautiful, personally it created a feeling of nostalgia triggering memories of being in my high school auditorium. The ground level is open concept for standing while there is an upper balcony available with seating. I chose the ground level and after a short walk about I found my perfect standpoint for my routine crowd review. A full house with the crowd ranging in age from early 20’s to late 50’s. As the band took to the stage the crowd cheered everyone dancing and singing along with one another.
On stage Lord Huron is captivating. I’ve listened to this album many times as it is currently my go to cooking album and sounds 100% better live. I instantly noticed their incredible stage presence as they perform together each member feeding off one another to create a beautiful sound that is almost hauntingly romantic. My only angst was how frontman Ben Schneider would be removing and destroying his perfectly tailored midnight blue suit after the show. As good as he looked it was a sweltering hot evening and I couldn’t help worrying that at any moment he may overheat.
In review Lord Huron killed it. A solid 4 out of 6ix.
